Mr. Burke has been in the purchasing profession for over 30 years. A retired automotive purchasing regional manager, he was responsible for the consolidation of 14 plants into one regional purchasing office. A graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a MBA, Mr. Burke has been on the cutting edge of the purchasing process improvements and procedural refinements most of his career.

His background of purchasing systems and his expertise in process improvement, has been on the leading edge of company policies and procedures. Mr. Burke has performed purchasing operation reviews (combined audit and consultation) and purchasing training for production, non-production and non-automotive activities (Ford Aerospace) throughout Ford Motor Co.'s World Wide purchasing organization.

Mr. Burke was a launch specialist for the development and implementation of several programs such as:

  • Design, development and launch of the purchasing regionalization program

  • Rating and ranking of the supply base for effective supply base management

  • Publication of a quality manual (QSS Facilities and Tools)

He has developed effective training classes to instruct users of the quality standard and scoring guideline. He participated in the planning and development of core purchasing training classes for buyers (e.g. Negotiations, Financial Analysis and Cost Analysis).

He has designed performance reports necessary for effective management of a purchasing activity (e.g. dollar volume, cost savings, document timing, etc.). In addition he has identified measurables which establish minimum performance standards and guidelines for the areas of customer satisfaction, blanket order effectiveness, and supply base management/reduction programs.

Mr. Burke has been instrumental in the establishment, development and operation of a Minority Supply Development Program for Ford's Industrial Materials Department (services, MRO, etc.).

His expertise encompasses the total purchasing process including: internal policy and procedure reviews, establishment of supplier communication councils, and standardization of order processing and forms for purchasing.
